Project Keep Straight Visits QE
On Tuesday, December 8 members of the Red Deer RCMP and two players from the Red Deer Rebels came to Ecole Queen Elizabeth to talk about their experiences on Hastings Street in Vancouver. Willie Coetzee and Jordie Deagle shared their thoughts about the ruined lives they saw. They passed on a message that good choices were necessary in order to avoid the addiction problems they viewed. Members of the Red Deer Rebels undertake this trip and public speaking tour annually. More photos are in the photo gallery.
Christmas Dinner 09
Our 13th Annual Christmas Dinner was held on Friday, December 18. Over 300 students, staff and invited guests were treated to a turkey dinner. All of this was made possible by the generous donations of our community. Special thanks to all of the volunteers who made this possible and the efforts of Mrs. Grekul, Mrs. Holowaty and Ms. Hart. We couldn't do it without these special people. Check out more photos in the Photo Gallery under Christmas Dinner 09.
December Band Concert
A very successful Band Concert was held on December 11. Over 100 band students showed their stuff under the tutelage of Band Director Mr. Tindall. Check out the photos in the photo gallery. We would like to thank Co-op Country Junction, Denis Pederson Florists, Nutters, Mickey's Flowers, Brentridge Ford and Edible Arrangements for sponsoring prizes for our raffle. We would also like to thank all of the parents who provided baked goods and helped organize the Bake Sale.
Emphasis for 2009-10
We are attempting to introduce more activity to our program and emphasize the importance of proper nutrition for student success this year. Staff have been provided with in-service on nutrition from Alberta Health and many are currently meeting with Fitness consultants from FitnWell. (www.fitnwell.com)
