Grade 9 Luncheon Moved to June 6
Our Grade 9 luncheon has to be moved to Wednesday, June 6. It will commence at 11:45 and end prior to the end of Period 4.
Leaders of Tomorrow Awards
Congratulations to Hanna Kennedy and Samara Moussa on their nominations as Leaders of Tomorrow. They received their recognition at the Reynolds Alberta Museum on Monday, April 16.
SPARK Conference
Our Team
On April 16 23 students and two staff went to the SPARK Conference in Sherwood Park. This leadership development conference was organized by high school students from Bev Facey Composite High School in Sherwood Park specifically for Junior High School students. Our student leaders were excited about attending and were very positive about the conference upon their return. Thanks to Mrs. Billingsley and Mrs. Plant for their work with the Student Leadership group.
Murray Grapentine Inducted to Sports Hall of Fame
Former Ecole Queen Elizabeth student Murray Grapentine was inducted to the Wetaskiwin and Country Sports Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Saturday, March 24, 2012. Murray was on Team Canada for eleven years and was Captain of our National Volleyball team for 5 years. Congratulations Murray.
Our Flag in Kandahar
At Kandahar Airport
Our flag made it to Afghanistan where it is flying over Kandahar Air Field. We just received this from the 1MP Regiment. They are looking forward to returning to Canada.
You may recall that the Regiment visited Ecole Queen Elizabeth last year to be presented with the flag which was signed by many students. The Regiment will return the flag to the school in a ceremony this year. Check out the photos in the Photo Gallery from their first visit last May.
Emphasis for 2011-12
Our emphasis this year is on Fitness and Nutrition so we can avoid this situation!!!
We are in our third year of a three year Education Plan which is designed to promote fitness and nutrition at Ecole Queen Elizabeth. This year will see opportunities for students to enroll in a Sports Excellence program which will provide them with individual training plans and increased access to our Fitness Centre and for a Food Prep course to continue to provide nutritious lunches several times per week.
